EYFS Phase Leader
St Peter's Catholic Primary School
I have worked as a Primary school teacher for 20 years and during my time at my current school I have held a number of different roles and responsibilities.
I initially became part of a Middle Leadership team after completing the NCSL ‘Leading from the Middle’ programme in 2004, at which time I held a position of responsibility for KS1 and Early Years and role of the Science coordinator for the school. Since this time I have undertaken the role of EYFS leader, Lower KS2 Phase leader, Art lead, Science Lead and I am currently EYFS Phase leader and RE Lead for the school.
My role as EYFS leader has involved remodeling of practice in our reception classes, developing and implementing new planning, teaching, assessment and reporting procedures, working closely with my school SLT, EYFS teaching and support staff and Parents. I have worked with other EYFS practitioners and leaders who are looking to improve practice and provision in their own settings.
After leading EYFS I moved to the role of Lower Key Stage 2 Phase leader and subsequently Key Stage 1 leader. In these roles I have worked with staff to transfer the good practice established in the Teaching and Learning of our youngest children to other areas in the school. I worked closely with the staff exploring the benefits of a thematic approach to learning, resulting in higher levels of engagement and in turn higher levels of attainment and rates of progress. I have been heavily involved in the implementation and embedding of both Afl and Talk for Writing across the school.
I have mentored Newly Qualified Teachers as well as experienced teachers undertaking the ITP programme and have delivered CPD across the school and to NQT’s on the areas of SEND and use of additional adults in the classroom.
