Kate Dempster

Assistant Headteacher / Teacher of Mathematics

The Billericay School, Billericay

About Me

I have been teaching Mathematics since 2006, starting out at The Anglo European School and now working at The Billericay School.  I am Assistant Headteacher, with an overview of Raising Standards and key groups including PPG.

At The Anglo European School, I was the school’s Professional Tutor, leading on ITT and NQT provision.  I devised training for Mentors, NQTs and trainees to ensure the processes were understood and all staff received the support needed.  For four years I worked with a range of training providers, including the Institute of Education, CfBT and Billericay Education Consortium.  When working with CfBT MFL trainees I would lead sessions focusing on general teaching theory and practice.  In my role as Lead Subject Mentor for Mathematics for Billericay Educational Consortium, I lead and support a team of subject mentors and run weekly training sessions on all aspects of Mathematics teaching for trainees.

Five years’ experience as a Year Leader helped me to develop positive working relationships with students, parents and teachers, working towards the aim of every student achieving their potential.  Taking a cohort through from Year 7 to Year 11 helped me to develop an understanding of the wider issues students can face and developed my awareness of strategies to help students to achieve their potential.
